How do you keep lure color selection simple?

When you find yourself trying to figure out how to select the right color for your lure, below are ways to keep it simple and not be dependant on a complicated color chart or other mind-boggling methods of choosing the right color. Lure Color Selection can be a daunting task.

The first and most important factor

First thing, and most important to consider would be the water clarity. If you are fishing a body of water that is clear, keep your choices to light colors and more natural colors.

You will want to use white, silver or grey colors in clear waters.  Look to closely imitate the forage in these conditions. For soft plastics use browns as well as green pumpkin or watermelon variations.

For muddy or stained water, you will want to use the darker colors like black, purple, blue and gaudy ones like chartreuse, bubblegum, etc.

The only way to keep lure color selection simple would be to stop right here and not talk about day vs. night fishing or overcast vs. sunny days. So that is exactly what I will do now.
